All smartphones that are enabled with NFC technology have Android Lollipop 5.0 or above operating system and have an Australian carrier, are compatible with Google Pay. |
How do I pay using Google Pay? |

Yes. When a cardholder pays using Google Pay, the merchant never sees the PAN [card number]. |
What do I need to use Google Pay? |
To use your Android phone to pay in stores, you need a NFC enabled Android device running Lollipop 5.0 and the Google Pay app. NB: Google Pay is preloaded on some newer Android phones. |
Do I need to upgrade my Android operating system to use Google Pay? |
As long as you have an Android phone running Lollipop 5.0 that is NFC enabled you do not need to upgrade. |
How do I know what version of Lollipop I am operating? |
You can usually see this by going to Settings > About > Device > Android version. If this doesn’t work on your device, please contact your phone manufacturer or telco. |
Where can I use Google Pay? |
You can pay with your Android phone at any store that accepts contactless payments in Australia. |
Am I able to opt out of Google Pay at any time? |
Adding your credit or debit cards to Google Pay is your choice; you can add and remove cards when needed. |
