Successful International Credit Union Day celebrations

Attention: open in a new window. Print

Thanks to all members of our communities across our branch network who supported us in our celebration of International Credit Union Day®, in October and November 2017.
This annual event commemorates the credit union movement’s impact and achievements, and promotes the traditional credit union philosophies which are focused on personal service and community support. In honor of this special day, Northern Inland celebrated with its Members and the entire community at four events hosted by our local branches. The events included a delicious Cupcake for a Cause, where by Members and the community were invited to purchase a cupcake to raise money for a local community group, chosen by each branch.

Northern Inland merchandise was available for a donation to the cause, and the children enjoyed the balloons and some sweet treats. Our efforts were supported by local radio and print media with interviews with a number of our staff in lead up and on the event days.
Some budding young artists also entered our ‘Super Saver’ Colouring In Competition – for a chance to win local Cinema Tickets. Winners were announced on Friday 24 November 2017.

The celebrations also saw the community take advantage of special offers including our Refer-a-Friend cash promotion some limited time home and personal loan offers.
Thank you to all who helped us raise a total of $2666 for our local worthy organisations:

  • Can Assist Gunnedah– Funds raised $309. The Cancer Assistance Network provides accommodation, financial assistance and practical support to people from rural and regional NSW, ensuring that country people are given the same opportunities and treatment choices as those who live in city centres.
  • Serendipity Tamworth- Funds raised $372. Serendipity was established by local volunteers to help raise funds, host events and purchase equipment to improve services for women living with breast cancer in the New England and North West.
  • Loud Shirt Day- & The Shepherd Centre - Funds raised $1185. These 2 organisations raise funds to help give the gift of sound and speech to deaf children.
  • Meals on Wheels Narrabri - Funds raised $800. Meals on Wheels helps make it possible for people to stay in their homes, and to maintain their independence. The funds raised went to the local Narrabri Meals On Wheels vehicle they have fondly named ‘Wheelie’.

Northern Inland shared the activities with the global community on social media using #CUdifference and #ICUDay.
